QQQ vs. NASDAQ Composite

Why is there such a large spread between the ETF and the index?

z

I see no such discrepancy between DIA & the Dow or SPY & S&P 500 Index.

Is the QQQ not the same as the NASDAQ Composite? Is there a better way to invest in the Composite index?

  • Could be slightly different percentage of holdings.
  • Chart might not be accurate.
  • The difference is so miniscule that it would be nothing to be concerned about.

:)

Quote from newwurldmn:

No. The qqq is the Nasdaq 100.
The composite is all Nasdaq stocks.

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. Just like all NYSE stocks outperform the NYSE index due to the effects of the smallcap & microcap stocks.

As was already mentioned QQQ and Nasdq 100 (^NDX). Ratio 40 to 1.
