Putin playing chess - Obama playing marbles

Someone explain to me why it is unacceptable for putin to do this but perfectly ok for the US to overthrow the leaders of half a dozen countries.

Obama himself orchestrated the removal of a US ally of 30 years in Egypt, used military force against Libya to aid islamist terrorists and wanted to invade Syria. Bill Clinton mounted a bombing campaign against Serbia to force them to allow a province, Kosovo, to separate from the country. Once again, we acted on behalf of islamist extremists, although we weren't quite so aware of the threat then. The serbs certainly were.

Someone also explain to me what our vital interests in crimea are anyway.

I see a a guy we know is a fool making threats against a guy we know is not to be taken lightly.
 
both Palin and Romney could foresee this problem and the left made fun of them for it.

When I think about it.... I think our press and media may be more dangerous than Obama's policies.

Not only have enabled Obama to make mistake after terrible mistake without making him pay... they are touting Hillary Clinton as a great foreign policy person.

Beck said that after Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney called Russia America’s “number one geopolitical foe” in March 2012, he was eviscerated by the administration and members of the media, though recent events in Ukraine would indicate he wasn’t far off in his analysis.

Obama mentioned Romney’s comment numerous times, and said at the Democratic National Convention: “You don’t call Russia our number one enemy — not Al Qaeda, Russia — unless you’re still stuck in a Cold War mind-warp.”

Secretary of State John Kerry, then a U.S. senator, echoed at the time: “Mitt Romney talks like he’s only seen Russia by watching Rocky IV.”

Beck expressed disgust over how Obama changed Romney’s words from “geopolitical foe” to “enemy,” before launching into a fiery tirade.

“The problem is, the media won’t report the truth,” Beck remarked. “The truth is, the last people you should be listening to on the Ukraine is this administration. They didn’t see it coming. They had no idea. They were mocking that Putin might be a bad guy.”

Beck added that America’s president has long been “playing footsy” with the Russians, even assuring them that he would have more “flexibility” after the election.

For Obama’s approval rating to dramatically drop, Beck reiterated, all the media would have to do is “play the audio of how wrong this man is” on everything from Russia to the repeated assurance that “if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan.”

And you're correct. Putin is to be taken quite seriously. He ACTUALLY has a pair vs this nightmare (and NO, I don't like, nor support a thug like Putin. I just know what he's capable of vs this):

Some people around the world refer to America as the great satan.

It almost makes you think it was planned. Seems too perfect to have happened by coincidence.
 
Romney and Palin are both full of sh1t in this case and/or are pandering to the old neo-con, chicken hawkish part of the American electorate.

Of course, Russia can and will be America's "geopolitical foe number one" if you antagonize them and insist on implementing your foreign policy objectives in the Russian backyard, come hell or high water. If America leaves the Russians alone, then they will, at worst, be your foreign policy competitors, rather than foes.

The whole idea is, in fact, a remnant of the Cold War era and you can easily see this in the response to the events in Crimea. The latest, as we speak, is that US wants to proceed with sanctions against Russia, while the EU (most importantly, Germany), which actually has the most to gain/lose in the Ukraine, is against sanctions and wants to cooperate with the Russians to achieve a mutually acceptable outcome.
