Look at this from today's Bloomberg:

Trump has no business being in the Oval Office. He's a lunatic! Cain has no background that would qualify him. He was very briefly a Director at the Kansas City Fed. A largely honorary, rubber stamp position. This is a man who advocated going back to the Gold Standard, for God's Sake!, indicating he has no more understanding of economics or Central Bank operation than Rand Paul's daddy. Trump is a lunatic and the Republicans in Congress are fully responsible for the disaster he is visiting on the U.S. Jeeesus, What Next!!!! God help us all.

Just look at my spelling of "PRESIDENT" in the title to this thread! That will tell you how upset I am about this. God Help Us! When you look at world leaders, who are the one's Trump is aligned with? Putin, Erdogan,Netanyahu, Bolsonaro, Orban, etc. Each and every one of them, out and out criminals or fully detestable characters.

While I agree with you that this is a strange pick for the Fed, Cain can't do any worse than the lunatics at the Fed already. And he actually has real world business experience, which is better than any of the purely academics at the Fed right now.

And we know how upset you are about Trump. You've had TDS for years now.
 
We are great at siding on collective responisibility and punishment for other peoples of the world. Just we do not actually give a crap unless we get something. President Trump lost me when I learned about the famine murdered children in Yemen, our ally and munitions and our military and president knowing what Saudi wad doing. I am a farmer and I know the history of famine pretty good.

I'm curious, but were you equally put-out when you learned that every other President before Trump also supported the Saudis in numerous heinous acts of barbarism? Or was your anger only because of Trump?

Incidentally, I support your position on Yemen and am against Saudi Arabia.

Business experience is useful, perhaps if you're running pizza restaurant. Its' not helpful to the kind of decisions you have to make if your running the Central Bank, any more, or less, than it would be if you were delivering a baby, or brushing your teeth. But business experience is at least not harmful if your brushing your teeth. It can be very harmful, however, if you're running a central bank and your experience is limited to running business. Would you want Trump to run the Central Bank? I think not. And he knows more about business than anyone, according to him.

Maybe you should work on your command of the English language. It is doubtful any President has "...supported the Saudis in numerous heinous acts." I think I understand what you mean, however. You meant, other Presidents have continued to work with the Saudis despite numerous heinous acts carried out by Saudis. The big difference is the others didn't ignore truth, their own intelligence service, and widespread world opinion.

There is no way to sugar coat the incompetence inherent in Trumps nomination of Cain. The reality is that Trump has often preferred to appoint those who contributed heavily to his campaign, not at all unusual in politics, as a primary criterion, in preference to competence, which is highly unusual at the presidential level of appointment to key Federal Agencies. [It is a curious observation that among Trumps thousands of lies he has told his supporters, is his claim that he was self-funding his political campaign.]

A common characteristic of corrupt governments is the ease with which government appointments can be bought. Even by the glaringly unqualified.
