Protests in at least 140 US cities

Yep I live near one of the hot spots.

Protests began and protests and after nightfall descended into violence. Rioters are shooting at police officers and it's only a matter of time before the military is brought in.

We were just starting to normalize after the coronavirus. Millions of Americans will never forget what these "protesters" did to us. My favorite restaurants, all small businesses, have been looted or torched. I just can't believe the levels these people will stoop to.

It's incredible a protest with armed people managed to be peaceful but a protest lead by left wing extremists couldn't be peaceful for 24 hours.

Almost like there's two different people in the world and lawful gun owners are normal and respectful people while left wingers are mentally underdeveloped animals.

Glug glug glug keep drinkin that Anderson Cooper racist anti-gun koolaid though.

Take over state capitol and yell in people's faces during a pandemic:

Charlottesville was peaceful?

Charlottesville was peaceful?

No. It was the meeting point of two extremists groups that ended about as well as you could've expected it - that is, not at all. If Trump supporters heeded Trumps call for "MAGA night" at Washington DC we might've seen the same thing happen again.

This is a clever way to bait me into allowing you to say "so you support the Charlottesville protesters then?" I'm not going to allow you to do that.

It's not a sliding scale. The premise I was getting at (albeit in an inflammatory way) was the painting of one protester-cum-rioter as "good" (the BLM/Antifa mix) and another literal protest (the Michigan protesters) as simple "white supremacists LARPing as military" was what Anderson Cooper was and has been doing. The media is manipulating this. Take a look at any of the feeds: "White people can march with guns and black people protesting are considering rioters". It's the lowest form of racebaiting. They are dying to do what you just did. Create the optics that people who are 2A protesters agree with Charlottesville and people who don't agree with BLM and Antifa. There are no battle lines drawn. The majority of lawful gun owners and right-leaning centrists despise the antisemitic and anti-black Charlottesville protesters. The majority of left-leaning centrists despise the desire to sow discord and domestic terror that Antifa has (naturally this extends to white supremacist groups for the right wing who seek to do the same thing - I can't think of anyone but the fringiest fringe who remotely thinks what they say is right).

This entire thing is being played up by the media who, in my opinion, are complicit in the violence. After watching more livefeeds from the protests last night I'm fully convinced the riot police are fully guilty as well. But again, the media would have you believe one or the other based on whatever flavor of entertainer pundit you like. Everyone is getting their jabs in now at whatever they want to pin it on. The media was a mistake.

While I recall the violence as somewhat one sided there, I don't believe you do support the racists at Charlottesville and wouldn't expect you to say you did. I was actually hoping you'd say something like:

I agree completely with that.

I must admit that I bristled a bit at your early characterization of

which I read to put the entire left of center in the category of "underdeveloped animals" while sparing anyone right of center the same scrutiny. Your latest post however makes it clear that I misread your intentions, so I'm glad we had the discussion.

ah yes....the enemy of the people

Maybe we should fire/furlough all the po-po's.
We'll see who blinks first. The people who want justice, fairness and (food?) vs. those who realize that twice as many whites are killed by po-po's and 20 times as many men as women.
Yeah, the cop deserves jail, but that don't make it about race. When cops kill whites by overreach, they still don't have to answer for it.

Whatever it is, President Trump was voted in by the Americans.
ie most Americans liked him.

Actually - he only won the electoral vote, not the popular vote. According to Wikipedia.
But - at least it wasn't her.

It's interesting to note when one explores the BLM narrative that the origination of 'the police' was as plantation police to watch over slaves. If one doesn't feel any empathy for those who fear getting shot at a traffic stop based on their skin color, well,... you are part of the problem.

Well - you're about 10 times more likely to get shot based on your gender vs your skin color. Men are killed at about 20 times the rate of women, black men killed at about twice the rate of white men. But there are differences in population. Therefore:
About twice as many white men as black men are killed every year by police.
Or maybe it's age discrimination, since people in their 20's and 30's are killed at about 10 times the rate of people in their 40's - 60's.

It's just not as simple as people make it out. I recommend really studying the stats first, then coming to conclusions based on actual numbers. Weird, I know, and not very American (or European or anything, but still).
