Nope, it's the other way round. I have repetitively argued his right to self defense which is a legal point, not a political point.

But yes, I argue political points as well, as this whole thing takes place in a massive political context. Make no mistke about it, this whole trial is playing to the crowds in the street, or trying to avoid playing to them- but that is the overarching context. The president of the united states weighs in and brands the defendant as a white supremacist, the vice president is running around the country meeting with people/families and contributing to bond bailout funds or as a candidate and the media beats their jaundiced drum day and night against the defendant. So little old me weighs in with my political views. Gee, that's a sad story right there.

And you are correct in some ways, in saying that I have nothing further to add- but only because they have been addressed ad nauseum. As I have said many times, the Soros buses and freelancing lefties are flooding to all these cities when the action begins or to make some action begin. No connection to the cities whatsoever, whether it is Seattle, Portland, Kenosha, whatever. And you and the media act like they are just freedom fighters and riders answering the call of duty.

Rittenhouse lives with his mother in Antioch, Illinois which is twenty miles or so down the road from Kenosha where his father lives- and yes he crosses a state line often. But that is an area where he lives and has connections. There is only so much drama and outrage you squeeze out of the crossing of the state lines.

The prosecutor worked Rittenhouse over by asking him why he needed to get involved when we have police and firefighters to do those things.

Well, duh, because maybe he just saw a significant part of the town being burned and looted an the police were not stopping it. Little things like that.

One of the guys that was shot had a criminal record of molesting five small children. Another one had just gotten out of a mental institution where he ended out for, among other things, trying to strangle and kill his grandmother. The one that lived had some kind of record of burglary and I think he had a pedo charge as well. No sure. Now, the good little lefties will pipe up as they are required to do and say that I am arguing that they deserved to be shot for those reasons. But I am not. It is the lefties who are now arguing that Ritten somehow deserved this or that because he, horror of horrors, crossed state lines or was too eager to get involved in the unrest.

It's bullshit. If Rittenhouse had not shot them he would be dead by now. He feared for his life because they were trying to kill him. El Concho will tell you again that that is just a political argument by me. If so, then fine, it is poltical argument then that is before the jury.

You might have missed my question from like 6 pages back...I have not been following the trial a whole lot. Did Kyle in fact travel across state lines with the rifle during the incident? Last I recall from the testimony, the rifle was supposedly in a safe in that Dom Black's place in Wisconsin on the day of said incident.

Let me go look. If true then I guess it is just felony possession..

In Wisconsin, he is charged with a misdemeanor possession of a firearm by a minor.

Illinois opened a case investigation, not sure if he was ever charged, but they dropped the case because they had no evidence that applied to Illinois.

I will just say in general that - the prosecution having done what I said they would do- which is to request a second degree charge on the reckless homcide charge (the lower of the three original homicide charges- not sure what they call it in Wisconsin) that Rittenhouse is probably at considerable risk there, with the charge being moved to second degree, or being allowed.

The prosecution does not have a strong case for even that but I have to acknowledge that the jury may want to convict Rittenhouse of something substantial. Or not, but if they do, that is where they will go.

Basically the prosecution would be arguing/acknowledging that the kid may have feared for his life but it was not a reasonable fear or his response was not reasonable. The defense would be arguing that he had a reasonable fear and "did you expect him to just be beaten to death with the skateboard and being kicked in the face to find out if he really intended to do him severe bodily harm or kill him."

The jury will have to figure that out but if anyone on the jury wants to bag him that is where they will go. So the bad news for the prosecution is that even they know that those other charges are not going to fly. The good news for them is that the judge allowed this second degree charge and they get anothe bite at the apple. A smaller bite, but still sizeable.

So my argument is that you all are caught up in the sensationalism of the event and the symbolism of your dear “rit” as a heroic figure of right wing culture. And I feel I’ve made my point when you admitted Rittenhouse was motivated by the lies of the right wing that there is a societal collapse happening and the narrative that civilians need to take up arms to assist a beleaguered law enforcement. It’s all lies and the outcome of what happened with “rit” makes that point - a 17 year old kid with a head full of lies sought to confront the “libs” with an assault rifle and ended up shooting 3 people, 2 of which he killed. It’s fucked up.

So the point about travel and it being out of state speaks to desire to engage “libs.” He was under no threat and was not sanctioned to be there nor requested to be there under any sanctioning authority.

So legally, what is his liability, if any in these shootings and killings?

Well we can establish he was conscious that he was wrongly in Kenosha. This is established by his lying to his mother telling her he was performing “medic duties” when in fact he sought out to act as “security” for a car dealership.

We can also establish he anticipated conflict because he was armed with an assault rifle meaning he did not intend to act watch but anticipated a need to engage with deadly force.

So what do we have so far? “rit” knowingly put himself into a dangerous and Un sanctioned position he knew he was not supposed to be at armed and prepared to engage people with deadly force. Is this right?
