Prop Firms

Alright guys, so here is the deal. Right now I am trading with Nonko Trading and looking for a prop firm that is based out of the US. Idk why but prop firms located out of states seems fishy to me.

Looking for a firm that takes 5k or less. I am 20 years old and in college still so I don't have much capital to spend on trading. Prop firm is my best option. I know the risks, so please just don't type anything if you have nothing to offer to the thread.

Right now I am only looking at Benchmarq Trading Technologies.

Really??? I don't think they are even in business anymore. Do you have a Series 56?
 
Lol, yeah they still are in business. I don't have it yet. But planning on taking it. Talked to Nick at Benchmarq Trading and he will be emailing me soon with the info. Anyone trade with them before?
 
U.S. based Series 56 prop firms as of today (in no particular order)

Bright Trading
Chimera Securities
Avatar Securities
T3 (which just acquired WTSprop)
Quasar Trading
Hold Brothers

There could be a few more stand alone firms, or sub-groups of the above. Scroll through the prop firms thread and you'll find them, and of course, do your own due diligence.

Bright requires 50k so that's out. Most other firms will sponsor you for the 56 license with a 5k capital contribution.

Never heard of them, but under SEC.gov, it shows up as Benchmarq Trading Partners, LLC, and the last filing that shows up in the SEC's database is from 2010.

Yeah I think their name now is Benchmarq trading technologies. Not sure what happened back then?

I'm not sure what happened back then, however it's probably a good idea to ask them why there are no recent financials on the SEC.gov site. Maybe they are now a sub-group of another registered firm, in which case they wouldn't have their own financial statements reported on SEC.gov.

The firm that sponsors you for the Series 56 has to be registered with its own Web CRD# (Central Registration Depository), so just find out the name of the ACTUAL firm doing the sponsoring, and you'll have your answer.
 
If you don't want to use your own capital, there are many firms that allow for this. Fortunately, it's also recruiting season, so you can apply for these prop trading firms' internships:

CTC
DE Shaw
Five Rings
Gelber Group
Jane Street
M&N Trading
Numerix
Optiver
Quantres
SIG
Towers Research Capital
Transmarket Group
Two Sigma
Wolverine

There are others, but these specifically focus on trading rather than software engineering/research. They also pay pretty well compared to most other prop firms. Great culture as well!
