Quote from Zr1Trader:
I never understood why people go to a prop. Why not just use forex or futures to get the leverage they seek? What justifies trading stocks intraday and paying a prop shop a % of my gains over trading futures or forex and keeping 100% of what I make? Is it supposedly "easier" to make money in stocks or something I'm not aware of? Honestly curious about it.
Is the main incentive to join a prop supposed to be the training, ongoing support, good execution, platform, data ect?
A couple of "yes" answers to the above. Yes, if you can make money trading the E's retail, go for it. But if you're making money on stocks, then why not surround yourself (cyber at minimum) with successful traders and enjoy the "support, interaction, and all the rest."
As I have always maintained, this is certainly not for everyone. A great alternative for the retail PDT guy, but not for everyone.
All the best,
Don
