Is this an example of manufactured outrage?

I scanned his timeline, couldn't tell if it was along the line of The Onion. The framing of the outrage is interesting, makes for valid criticisms.

Still comes back to whether an individual has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; regardless of how an outsider might view the rationality of their decisions.

I'm not sure of this instance, but I've seen stuff like this before from actual trans individuals. They seem to think that if a man doesn't find the concept of dating a trans woman likeable, then that man is a bigot, and all about hate.

Prejudice is an interesting concept - we all have prejudice in us, whether we want to pretend to or not, especially when it comes to attraction. Everyone has a type. Everyone has preference. If you're a 30 year old male, and don't find the concept of dating an 80 year old female, then you're technically an "ageist". What about a 600 pound male who gets turned down by a 21 year old female? Weight discrimination! Its all about subjectivity.

You can discriminate against a 600 pound individual, and most people understand it. But if you're white and don't want to date a black man or woman, then you're suddenly racist.

You and I differ politically on a lot of things, which is fine - that's what makes the world go 'round, as they say. But I'm sure you see this as a fringe element of the democratic party being ridiculous - and I would agree. That's why the thread is labeled "Progressive Stupidty" and not "Democrat Stupidity".

Yes, I consider this attitude extremist and along the lines of pot-kettle-black. Your first example of trans-individual not giving a potential partner the freedom to choose is a great illustration.

I didn't think I was attracted to trans-folk, until watching the series Sense8 which oddly enough had an actress that I thought was cis female. It was until only after the series that I was informed they were trans. It brought feelings that were uncomfortable. (omg am I gay? but she's a she, wait, is she really a she? omg, what does this mean?) So I understand, the right's repudiation of the confusion around sexuality vs gender.

We all have our internal struggles.

The bathroom and sports thing does make for a lot of controversy. If I had a daughter, I would have concerns.

For the record, I'm a straight male comfortable in my sexuality. I think folks should have the freedom to choose but also be responsible and disclose with clear communication.

I'm not saying I could never find a trans female attractive by seeing them at first glance. But that would go out the window on learning they are trans. Kinda like The Crying Game. If that makes me a bigot to some people on the left, I honestly couldn't care less.

This is a case where bigot isn't an appropriate term. The message gets diluted and distorted.
