because a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush - just because a system tests out well now, doesn't guarantee it will always make money
many traders and programmers have posted system formulas for FREE to the public, only to have them inproved upon or see them no longer work

In fact, it doesn't make a difference if a system works or not. Many public vendors sell systems that do not work, but still make money from newbies.
The fact is you want to take someone's system/research and profit on it without doing any work yourself.
Any programmer who knows how to develop a winning trading system knows thats a bad investment.
