Profitable Trend Trading Strategy

Sounds easy enough.. I might have missed it but what are your entries based on? fades and breaks/retests of VAH and VAL? anything with pivots?

Chris,

have you used your 2.5 ATR stop on 60 min chats as well or do you still use daily 2.5 ATR(D) even when trading 60min charts...I started using on daily charts 5-15 EMA crossover as entry point BUT only into direction of longer term trend (price above or below 150EMA is criteria) with 3 ATR trail and initial stops. Only breaking even so far but visually should return positive expectancy. Any comment would be much appreciated

Put a 20 EMA on a 15 min chart, when the EMA is uptrending buy on a retest of the EMA, and when the EMA is downtrending short on a pullback to the EMA. When the EMA is flat the market is in chop.

An EMA is not a tri-state indicator.

What are your criteria for when it's in an uptrend, downtrend or flat?

OP,
The correlation between daily changes in the S&P500 futures approximately -0.04 over almost all relevant periods. It appears that you have the odds against you

do you look at premarket also? also you know the ES didn't exist prior to 1997, so any daily changes to the S&P prior to 1997 is irrelevant, as the ES is now driving the S&P instead of the other way around?
