Producer Prices Surge Most In Over Four Years As BLS Discovers Food Inflation

Don't get mad, yourself. And don't wake up to a new day with me on your mind. LOL.

Oh, I'm certainly not mad. I view dealing with you akin to when I sit my 6 year old down to explain to him why not all adults are good people. He doesn't quite grasp all the concepts at first, but eventually, after repeating myself enough, you can see he begins to get where I'm coming from. He's a good lad, but still, only six.

In other words, as you come here to work out, I come here to slow down a bit. There's just not enough weight to have to lift, ya know? :)

But as for waking up with you on my mind, you're confusing my sexuality with your own, I think. I have a lovely wife with fake boobs. I don't think of much else when I wake! :p

I am not sure why this has anything to do with the BLS "discovering" anything... Due to a whole variety of causes, global food prices have been on the rise recently (partly reversing the falls experienced previously). So PPI is simply a reflection of what's been happening in the global mkt (with a lag), rather than anything to do with the BLS. Specifically, you can see it in the plot of the CRB Foodstuffs here (handily plotted vs PPI):

(In fact, the author of the blog from whom I have borrowed the chart wrote this in April: "We have had higher food price inflation in recent weeks. This should lead to a higher PPI headline number.")

The word "discovers" is being used sarcastically. You and Captain Literal a.k.a. Ricter make quite the pair.

People on the street have been seeing food inflation for some time. It hasn't been showing up in the BLS numbers. Hence the humor about the BLS discovering it.

I can't believe I actually had to explain that.
