Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

Just found out about this today with a rejected order to place a trade. Zero communication from IB. Contact of support provided nothing other than its no longer allowed, permanent change. Very disappointing. Anyone know another broker that allows futures in a Roth IRA, through an API?

TD allows futures. They might have an API but their pricing is not geared toward active traders. If you are an active trader and willing to use a self directed plan, I might be able to help.

One of the key differentiators for IB is their Universal Account, where you can trade stocks and futures from the same account. I understand that OptionsXpress is the other retail broker who offers this capability, but their commissions are higher than IB.

TD does the same thing.

As of this morning, my IRA account at IB allows all futures to be traded again.

Are you sure?.... I can click on the bid/ask and generate a transaction, but the account field is blank with no options... Have you actually executed a futures trade? ... If so, what did you do to reactivate?

I traded several futures spreads in CL in my IRA this morning. I also tried entering outright futures limit orders in CL to either of my two accounts (IRA & roth-IRA) and had no trouble doing so (but I cancelled them before they filled).

I never contacted IB or did anything special, just noticed this morning that quotes for outright futures can be added to TWS again in my IRA account.
