Private messages

I swear I sent a private message to someone. But I can't figure out how to confirm that it was sent. I've had a few people tell me they never got a message I thought I had sent. And what ever happened to logging in and seeing you have a new PM in the upper left hand corner? I just got some messages which were sent to me a while ago.

It's not that big of a deal, but does change have to be this hard?
 
When you compose a private message, there is an option you can check called, "Request a read receipt for this message". When you check that box, you'll be able to verify later on that a user has actually opened and read the message you sent him.
