I thought it would be good to have a sister thread to the Netflix Suggestions, but with Amazon since they have a nice selection of movies and original features (movies, series). This month some of the films they've added for "free" to Prime members (in alphabetical order):

• BlacKkKlansman (2018) - Spike Lee directed, not his best but always interesting
• Breathless (1983) - early Richard Gere, stunning Valerie Kaprisky
• Erin Brockovich (2000) - Julia Roberts, Albert Finney
• Fatal Attraction (1987) - the ultimate wacko-chick movie with Michael Douglas, Glenn Close, Anne Archer

• Run Lola Run (1998) - cool what-if 3 scenario story, Franka Potente (from Bourne Identity)
• Schindler's List (1994) - Spielberg dir, tough movie to watch but worth it
• Serpico (1973) - brilliant early Al Pacino
• Some Like it Hot (1959) - classic Billy Wilder dir, Marilyn Monroe at her sexiest, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis
• The Accused (1988) - excellent Jody Foster, Kelly McGillis
• The Big Chill (1983) - fabulous cast, one of the best soundtracks ever
• The Blues Brothers (1980) - Belushi & Aykroyd, great musical cameos (Ray Charles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin)
• The Deer Hunter (1979) - DeNiro, Christopher Walken, excellent but brutal Vietnam War flick
• The Holdovers (2023) - Paul Giamatti, Da'Vine Joy Randolph
• The Last Detail (1973) - great early Jack Nicholson
• The Man From Earth (2007) - fascinating story of a man who never dies
• Whiplash (2014) - J.K. Simmons won Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor
• Wrath of Man (2021) - Guy Ritchie directed, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, moody revenge flick

All great movies I've seen.

Gattaca has a lot of great character actors in it like Gore Vidal, Alan Arkin & Loren Dean. Its probably the best adaptation of Huxley's Brave New World I've seen.

Schindler's List & The Deer Hunter are great movies with endless great actors in it but you can't watch it too many times -- its too depressing.

John Cazale filmed The Deer Hunter while he was dying of Cancer. Him & Meryl Streep were supposed to get married but it never happened. He was a very good actor who was also great in Dog Day Afternoon and of course Godfather I & II.

I read that the little girl with a red dress who gets killed in the Krakow Ghetto was a turning point for Schindler in his decision to help the Jews survive. That red dress was the only color through most of the movie besides the ending.

Keep an eye out for the BattleStar Galactica reboot of 2004. Ran for 4 seasons, along with some offshoots. It starred Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, among others.

You can find it "in other ways", but if you are not willing to do that, just keep scanning for it on these new streaming networks.

Best Sci-Fi series on television, period.

Jagged Edge is one of the best courtroom/law movies (along with The Paper Chase and my favorite ...And Justice For All) I've seen. It shows the rich lifestyle of early 1980s SF which is interesting. Also the actor who plays Glenn Close's private eye is great (Robert Loggia). Peter Coyote is great as the damaged prosecutor in it as well.

The Stunt Man is a strange movie and probably one of the best American Peter O'Toole movies. It is a very creepy movie where he plays a director with a mean streak. Steven Railsback plays the stuntman. I think that was his first breakout film. You can't go wrong with O'Toole, he's one of the best actors of all time not withstanding his constant snubs by the Oscars.

Another great American movie O'Toole made was My Favorite Year. Its a thinly veiled comedic farce about the later days of Errol Flynn and his tax troubles with the IRS. It also stars Joseph Bologna who is hilarious as King Kaiser, the star of the show O'Toole is supposed to guest star in in order to pay off his IRS bill. Its one of the funniest movies of the early 1980s. Peter O'Toole was nominated for Best Supporting Actor but lost again I believe to one of the actors from Chariots of Fire.

Agree, and I've seen all three. A couple others comes to mind ─ Anatomy of a Murder (which is still being offered for free on PRIME) has an excellent cast with a young George C. Scott two years before The Hustler along with a very tasty Lee Remick. Also The Devil's Advocate with Kenau Reeves and an outstanding Al Pacino as the Prince of Darkness which has a couple of nice courtroom scenes, altho it's mostly about the law firm itself.

He's so good it's worth seeing the movie just for his unique character.

O'Toole is excellent, the movie constantly twists 'n turns, and you're right about that mean streak. Four years prior to The Stunt Man Steve Railsback was brilliant in the TV mini-series Helter Skelter. He nailed the sick and demented cult leader Charles Manson.
