PRIIPS KID on IB

That is CME's problem. It didn't have to. The issuer of SPY provides a 85-page prospectus document updated every few years it shouldn't have to stoop to EU regulators' stupidity and bureaucracy to provide a useless 2-page document.

Never ever surrender to stupidity and inefficiency!! We all live finite lives.
" It didn't have to. "
if you are in a regulated business you do what the regulators tell you.
be serious.

They were not prepared. I called to the trading desk for the first time till I am trading. It was a surreal conversation.
My position were autoliquidated while they were trying to understand the issue.

So IB not warning customers and helpdesk employees is either incompetence or they had a look to see how many customers would be effected, and it turned out to be not that many, so they didn't care and did it without any notice.

however bureaucracies live infinite/immortal lives. your only decision is to choose which bureaucy you are going to live under.

Retaliation for American tariffs against Europe might have made it easier for European regulators to create these new .rules.
it is all part of the forthcoming trade war.
The crafting and decision to implement this regulation preceded the Trump tarifs by years. So Trump could have pointed to this regulation as a technical trade barrier, which it is.

Except if it has changed recently, IBHK doesn t allow Cfds.
Not Sure IBHK is for any one/entity without a HK adress btw.
And indeed the server one use is Not dependent on the IB affiliate They depend on

Why don't they just categorize all traders who open an account with them as professional clients? There, problem solved! After all, we are all professionals.

Retail traders have to satisfy two out of 3 conditions listed below:

1. The investor has carried out 10 or more significant transactions a quarter over the past year
2. The size of the investor's portfolio exceeds EUR 500,000
3. The investor works or has worked in the financial sector for at least one year

IB will probably come up with a questionnaire over the next few days and we should be back to normal!
