I've seen software packages advertised that predict the future price of stocks and futures. Anyone used this software with good results? I'd be interested in trying out one of the packages that is low-cost or free. Can anyone provide recs? Many thanks!

No. If there were a reliable system that predicted price with any degree of accuracy why would anyone sell it to YOU? Why wouldn't the creator just scale up and trade it? Why would he be willing to share it with the world for 199.00 ?
I am going to save you some time. STOP LOOKING FOR "The holy grail". What you have to do is invest a lot of time and effort in learning how to trade for yourself. There are no shortcuts, no "systems" you can buy that will work over the long run. THERE ARE plenty of shysters and snakeoil salesmen out there that CLAIM to have a fool proof way to make money in the market. They really do make money; selling their bullshit systems to newbies.

Of course, there are systems that predict prices. Either based on technical analysis or on chart patterns. One of the most known is called "Autochartist" and is free add-on with many brokers.
Are those systems exact enough to make you money if you just follow their signals? I don't know. They claim to be profitable, but I've never used. However you can backtest it or try with demo accounts.
