The energy prices fell sharply from 699€ on August 26 to currently 243€.

The reason for expensive energy in general is the high gas price, because Germany is highly dependent on Russian gas and the price for all energy doesn't depend on the actual costs but on the costs for the most expensive power plants, which is gas.
This means most energy is produced for cents and sold for hundreds of Euros. Energy producers are making the fortune of a lifetime.
Anyone thinking Germany could open Northstream 2 is delusional or a Russian bot. The capacity of the old Northstream 1 isn't even at 20%, and currently it's zero because Putin is playing war games and would use Northsteam 2 even more for blackmailing Europe. However, the government solved a lot of the issues already, most gas comes from countries like Norway and the Netherlands now and the gas tanks for the winter in Germany are 85% full, which is even more than they are supposed to be at this time of the year.
And that is despite Germany is producing a lot of additional energy for France because their nuclear power plants are failing and they need help. Germany doesn't have these issues because it doesn't rely on nuclear power, which is failing because of aging and climate change, it's one of the few countries in Europe which is actually able to help, or France would have permanent power outages.

Sorry, I thought that was common knowledge by now. The short version is, many power plants, including nuclear power, need water from rivers, and rivers all over Europe are as dry as never before, because of the climate change. Use Google for detailed explanations, there are many articles about it all over the news. It will probably get even worse in the years to come.

Europe made this choice already. They are cutting Russia loose, and there is no going back.
Ukraine is in Europe. Putin is attacking Europe, and Putin is known for supporting Nazi networks all over Europe. So the "Ukraine are Nazis and I'm just fighting Nazis" narrative of Putin doesn't work in Europe, because everyone knows first hand who the Nazi in this war is. Maybe he should have stuck to the "we are just fighting terrorists" narrative he used before when invading other countries, the Nazi narrative was just stupid.
Economically, Russia doesn't even exist anymore. Arming a country which is actively invading Europe and already preparing to invade the next European country (Moldova) is not an option. It's taking some time to cut all ties to Russia, but Europe is getting there. It doesn't even matter what happens in Ukraine or with Putin anymore. Business with Russia won't come back for decades.
The only ones doing great business now are China and India. No matter how little they offer to pay Russia for their resources, Russia doesn't have the option to refuse.

However, there will be a difficult time of transition for Europe. For some countries more than for others. Nobody is denying this. But the decisions are made and are final and there is no going back. The transformation is in progress and actually going fairly well so far, considering the circumstances. Yes, prices will spike for some time and nobody is happy about all of this, of course. What did you expect? People singing and dancing in the streets about rising energy prices? Europe isn't Russia, of course there will be some protests in a democracy. And it will be quite hard for some people. But Europe will get over it eventually.
Russia on the other hand won't.
If you put your hopes into Europe switching to Putin-loving Nazi-Communist-governments because of some Nazi and Communist protests, let me inform you, that you are delusional.
