Price improvement on minis??

While not quite as egregious, I regularly experienced similar occurrences when using stop orders, for both entry and exit, through IB. I had additional issues with limit orders executing in a timely fashion, as well.

It appears that some traders have few problems with TWS and others, my trading partner and myself included, are besieged with misfortune. Can’t explain it but don’t waste your time if it continues. Find another broker.

If there are many more of those occurences I will definitely look elsewhere.

On qcharts, the time and sales on the mini does not allow you to backscoll so I could not go back and check. Maybe theyll be able to go back and check. Its not all that much money but it sure bugs me.

What kind of connection do you have? I use IB because its the only one I know of whose software will run on a 56k without messing up. I dont have access to broadband other than satellite for data feed.

I don't know the answer to your limit order being filled question but if there was a offer at your limit price the computer just paired you guys up. I would check the CME website and see what the Globex procedure is and then you'll know if IB screwed you or not.

i just started trading the emini last week.. what ive noticed is that if i send a limit order to buy at the best offer i usually get filled there.. but if my limit is .50 or 1 point away, ive gotten filled half a point away too when the market is jumpy..

but i think what might have happened to you.. ive noticed that sometimes qcharts has incorrect prices in its level2 box.. the sizes are correct, but sometimes the actual price is +- a point.. i usually just switch servers when i see this and it seems to work itself out.. the quotes from IB seem reliable though..

EASYRIDER: Ok, i have got Globex times and sales (all of them). If you want, please tell me the exact trade date + time (hh/mm/sec) and the number of contracts traded at this price. I will lookup the circumctances under which the trade happened (bid+ask at the exchange / your fill) and see if it is an IB issue !!!!:confused:

some have often troubles some don't.
It is a similar thing with qchart and quote.com
it seems to really depend on our the internet data is routed to you ( as far as market data is concerned.. I am not talking about stop problems sometimes discussed here).
before changing broker, you may want to change IB server used (there is a setting to do that). please contact ib tech support for that.

easyrider, your questionned seemed naive. But I now see that you are experienced and equipped enough. so there is of course the possibility of an error. although I never had a problem with futures in person. And depending on time of year, I do all kind of trading with IB, sometimes very very active with 10 contracts or more.
No real problems.

However I must say, that I follow a very defensive approach regarding the trading platform. If I see that market data is lagging too much from IB, I would simply stop trading. Because if you can't trust what you see you should not be trading. Also, if the market becomes fast, I am out of there in a blink, and stay out.
So maybe I am lucky because I really make a big effort to avoid situations with potential problems. And these situations mentioned above do occur from time to time even though I never had a complaint with my executions.
