Necessities of life... liquor, cigarettes, toilet paper, condoms, etc.

If this were true, how long this recession will last ?

well we just bubbled out of a bubble. debt/gdp ratios at highest levels since late 1920s. add in the explosive use of derivatives which are now rocking the system along with more resets in 08 yet to come.

this could be deep, this could be painful and bernanke will be stressed out so much his face will start to go bald.

Unless it is the mother of all depressions (like 1929), recessions tend to be very brief. They've averaged about 10 months since the last major depression.

The statistics are out there.

TLT (bonds) breaking to new 52w highs telegraphing economic softness while Copper (HG) is breaking key support and falls to new 6 month lows. They couldn't make things any clearer now could they? :(

Quote from stock_trad3r:

I highly doubt a recession will happen, and if it doesn happen I doubt it will entail the downside shorts are hoping for.
Funny how things look in hind sight.

Epic observation, mak. :)

I am trying to remain agnostic to economic forecasts, but some of the market price action feels like it's pricing in a definite recession within 6-12 months, just looking at the charts without any emotions. Opinions/comments/additions welcome:

2 year yield vs. Fed Fund Target Rate spread now approx. 1 full point:

10 year yield - broke support. Looks more like DEFLATION rather than INFLATION to me:

Sector price action:

Consumer staples about to make new 52w highs. Who on earth is pushing the staples unless money that believes we're headed for a recession:

Energy sector stocks... A series of higher volume down days. Topping out soon?
