I suppose black people really do think this way, since Db seems to have an unending stream of these whiny poor-us articles to share.
Let me reassure this idiot woman. The main threat to your grandson will not be the police, or racist white teachers, doctors or others who are foolish enough to try to help him and get slandered for their efforts. The main threat will be other young black men.
He will be at risk from the police or whites only if he engages in violent crime or attempts to fight the police or act in a threatening manner toward them. That should be a rather simple lesson to teach him. Chris Rock prepared a helpful video which addresses the subject as well.

I haven't done the job in 15 years, so no patrol car. Sorry. Lol (Every now and then, iimagine myself staying a Trooper to retirement. yes, i begin shaking violently scared lol.)
As for shooting him in the ankle, he wants a cop to place a bullet (ACCURATELY!), in a moving object the size of an ankle, in the dark, while shaking, and beyond scared shitless.
So assuming your door was open for some reason, he'd have to reach between you and the steering wheel, reach the retention holster on your right side, extract it from the holster, release the safety (assuming it was engaged), unwedge himself in order to point the barrel at you, and then fire, all the while you're struggling to prevent him from doing any of this?
Not trying to be argumentative. You're the first person who's posted, as far as I know, who has any idea how this works, and I'm curious, particularly since the ME said there were no signs of a struggle.
He already did. He's going to defend them to the end, but if he ever encounters a group of teenagers, he's going to fall down and cry like a little girl so they leave them alone.... Then he's going to buy them a drink (in violation of the liquor and underage delinquency laws, mind you...)
In a way, db's like the Black Knight in MP's the Holy Grail - he'll defend them to the end even as they are the ones putting him in the ground...

Before addressing the rest of your presumptions, I'll have to inquire, how the hell does a medical examiner know if there was a struggle or not?? I didn't know there was a medical examiner on the scene to WITNESS what happened. Lol!
I've been involved in Jiu Jitsu since the early 90's. I've been in "struggles," I would guess at least a hundred thousand times via training, full contact sparring, tournaments, a few street fights lol, etc., Bruised, and banged up maybe 2-3% of all that time, and that number's probably too large..
As a Trooper, I've been in numerous struggles as well. Bruising (or any marks, hematoma's, scratches, etc.,), for either myself OR the arrestee were also very rare. I can count on two hands how many times I was bruised up, and about the same number for suspects who wanted to fight me.
I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but not all physical struggles result in bruising, hematoma, scratches, etc.,
Forgot to add, I am one who was forced to use my sidearm in what was deemed a "suicide by cop" incident outside of a rural, semi-biker type, sleazy bar. And yes, thank God he was a white guy...
I'll have to laugh, as you just don't know what you just don't know.. I was dispatched to a disturbance call where as soon as i pulled in, the suspect dove through my rolled down window, in an attempt to shove my foot on the accelerator, throw punches, and try to get my .45 upholstered. Should I have shot him until he stopped the attack? Hell yes, I should have!! I couldn't get to my .38 in my ankle holster during the struggle as he was INSIDE IF MY CRUISER, ON TOP OF ME! It would have been even worse if I had been opening my door as I had just taken my seatbelt off after radioing on the scene.
No, I don't know. That's why I'm asking. If you couldn't get to your gun and neither could he, how was it resolved?
