Over penetration is something smart people think of. But if someone was out gunning me and already in the house (like in the OP) then penetration would be down the list of my concerns.
 
What I think if funny is Tackleberry Tao's bleating it only happened 20 miles from his house so he is scared and well... scared and clutching his guns in a manly (ahem) way.

An AWFUL lot of everything happens within 20 miles of someone in a city, this is actually way out in the middle of nowhere.

Apart from the geography, Tsing Toad is all about guns and swords (ask him about his beloved katana). They make him feel important. And you just know he's either aiming one or swinging the other while watching his favorite actions movies.
