Preferences for trading / investing

What kind of preferences for trading / investing do you got, ie. mechanical or discretionary, regardless of profitability or supposed utility?

I trade exclusively off charts, using almost no fundamental information. I have never invested in the markets.

My "preference" is mechanical in theory/ideal world, but I have not found a mechanical system that can outperform my discretionary for me. If I had one that matched discretionary performance, I would switch over in a heartbeat. Until then it's discretionary for me.

Poorly designed poll with many options that have no clear definition and/or aren't distinct from each other. You only need 4 options:

1. Mechanical
2. Discretionary
3. Delegate to someone else
4. Buy & Hold

I do a mixture of 1 and 4.
