Now it is pigeons playing ping-pong. Chinese pigeons are probably very adept and I have a feeling that Forrest-Trump is not like that movie.

If China doesn't like Trump, they can start dumping Treasuries in 2019 and let rates climb. Housing will get hit and if you lose that, you lose the economy - meaning a recession. New president is elected and peace returns.

Trump needs to reverse his course on trade. Instead of attempting unilaterally change trade agreements, why couldn’t Trump try the diplomatic route? He could have presented his case to our trading partners and may have be able to get reasonable concessions, given how one-sided our trade agreements apparently are.

I guess that Trump’s personality just does not allow for the latter move.

So instead everyone may end up losing.

I am reminded of the movie Liar! Liar! where Jim Carey’s character is asked what he is doning in the men’s room because he was hitting himself. He replied: “I’m kicking my ass!”.

The path Trump is on can only lead to long term political, economic, and diplomatic ruin for the United States. The fact he may take a few countries down economically is no consolation.

The best thing about all this is the political enemies he's making within his party. Won't be long before they yearn for stable pence.
