Historically, incomes have grown faster than electricity prices, which mean that, on average, energy affordability in Australia has actually improved over time. However, in recent years, electricity prices have grown more quickly than average weekly incomes,
which imply that, on average, energy affordability has worsened since the last ABS survey.

This is being felt most acutely by low income households, whose incomes tend to grow more slowly. For higher income individuals and families, energy affordability is likely to
have improved, albeit more slowly than in the past.

Work by the CSIRO has shown that even with strong action on climate change, in the long
-term overall energy affordability for Australian households is expected to improve.
The study also demonstrated that modest energy efficiency improvements would help to
offset any potential negative impacts on energy affordability in the short-term.

Your posts are low-key and polite but I happen to profoundly disagree with all you are saying and I'm asking what qualifications you possess that lend credibility to your assertions that energy has become cheaper (a smaller percentage of household expenses) and that increases in efficiency and conservation can offset the enormous increases to energy costs when hydrocarbon fuel sources are abandoned.

Both of those assertions are nonsense. Western civilization is nowhere near to having the ability to influence global temperatures and you folks are going to cause untold amounts of human suffering if you continue to try to force people to abandon cheap and plentiful sources of energy. Some of those people will eventually *fight* to preserve their way of life and regard warmists as being just as dangerous as Islamic terrorists.

Please share your credentials to make a claim so opposed to that of the world's scientific organizations. I'm not advocating a bandwagon argument, but we can't do everything ourselves, so we pay people to be experts.

We've both seen the list of the world's scientific and governmental bodies which believe Man is contributing. Your side is too implausible to even entertain anymore.

You do realize that many of those scientific bodies have backed off of their endorsements after their members demanded that the organizations retract their AGW statements.

The whole planet has to do nothing more than use google. Sure, there's a chance your emperor is wearing invisible robes, but I wouldn't bet on it. On the other hand, you have nothing to lose betting on it.
