Post economic collapse game plan

Quote from jprad:

Ditto on your first point.

As for your second, define "safe" in a world where the dominant military and consumer nation goes tits up.

Any country which is capable of self-sufficiency in that scenario is, by definition, a target to get overrun by so many people who have the same idea. Do you honestly think that country's government would stand still and let itself be brought to it's knees? No, they would respond by denying access to foreigners and/or kicking the ones out that are already there.

IMHO, if the US goes down the entire world goes with it and there will be no safe harbor for US citizens, and Europeans, who didn't check out and establish themselves elsewhere at least 10 years ago.

Yes, you only have to look back at World War 2. Even for the brief period where Jews were allowed to leave Germany, America capped jewish immigration to 30,000 per year.

Quote from Halal Burger:

Have you guys seen "The Road"?

The first thing I would do is get a bus load of retards and lock them in my cellar to eat later.

I find that word very offensive...yet you made me spit out a mouthfull of sunflower seeds in laughter when I read this. :D

Oh, read the book if you havent.

Quote from Kassz007:

Reminds me of stories from the 50's about people who built bomb shelters and stocked up on food and ammo to protect against the inevitable war with the commies. How did that turn out?

I think a war with the USSR was a lot more likely during that era than a total social and economic collapse is today.

Quote from DrPepper:

In all but the most desperate economic situations, a well armed neighborhood working together is probably one of the safest ways to live.

That sounds like socialism.

Quote from Random.Capital:

That sounds like socialism.

And there's nothing wrong with it on the community level. Think Amish, a church community, or a kibbutz in Israel.

I have no problem with it.

Quote from Misthos:

And there's nothing wrong with it on the community level.

Although I can see how on ET it might be construed otherwise, I wasn't making a judgement, merely offering an observation.
