Exactly, once you've fully bought into a cult, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Trumpism, etc. there is no going back, everyone else is either an innocent, unwitting victim or a conspirator. They don't understand why the rest of us can't see the "obvious" that they see. Our own Beautiful Stranger is a prime example.. .
Our sociopath president understands this psychology well. He is a genius at manipulating people by whatever means necessary. We see him as a dangerous, silly bore, and law breaker; someone handcuffs were made for. But his followers see him as a Jim Jones, a Rev. Moon, a Swami, a Mohamed, a Saint Paul, a Christ. He feeds on their adulation and victimizes them the way a female praying mantis, an artist of deceptive behavior, feeds on the hapless male after mating.
