Indeed.
In Russia there is never anybody caught. Putin decides who will get which job. He does not need elections. Last week he even passed a law that says that Presidents have lifetime immunity and can never brought for court for any crime. The law passed without any problem.
Trump tried the same in the US. Social media (controlled by Presidents, I mean dictators) are ideal tools to manipulate people. That's why Trump is on all social media.
Millions of Americans believe the lies that are posted on social media. They even believe more what is posted there then what scientists or doctors tell.

It's fascinating to me. I wish I knew exactly why this can happen to some human brains. But,
I believe it starts from an underlying, common belief in an unpopular/unrealistic premise: racism, q anon, flat Earth, etc.
From there, anything that furthers that underlying premise is consumed whole; and regurgitated to as many as possible.
