Politicians only support actions from police when it is the politician's house that is going to be looted. At that point the "protestors" are declared to be "domestic terrorists" by the politicians who demand the police take strong-arm action to remove them.

I saw the mayor on tv walking around and pointing out that the protests didnt even have much to do with George Floyd and "that that was apparent just by what the graffiti everywhere says."

WTF. So what? Is he saying that only george floyd related protest points have been approved? Bro, that ain't how free speech works. The protesters get to decide what their issues are, not you. Your job is to limit lawbreaking that is not protected by free speech. The mayor was clearly trying to delegitimize the protesters to get community support to move them out of his neighborhood.
 
Maybe they'll learn when you pay people a grand a week to stay home boredom sets in, and bored people tend to get creative. Burning down houses is part of that creativity. More homes of political types and celebrities need to go up in flames. They created the monster, they should suffer the consequences.

Not sure I know what kind of statement that makes, and I am pretty sure they do not know either.

I think it just falls under the general doctrine now that anything erected before AOC was born is inherently bad and must come down.

The statue was apparently given to the city by a former city mayor who loved the city, which means that he was probably a white guy so hasta la vista Mr. Elk. They will put a statue of George Floyd shooting meth back up there.

They also destroyed all the pubic bathrooms in that park area and two parks/squares nearby because homeless people and their advocates have argued for more public rest rooms. It was a good thing- then poof- public restrooms for the homeless became a symbol of colonialism or something.

Let's see now.

Yesterday we learned that an Elk statue in Portland, Oregon was taken down because.....well.....racist I guess.

Today we are presented with the prospect of a racist fish in Copenhagen.

Clearly you have to be woke to follow some of this.

I am working on it but not there yet. Might need a little kool-aid to stimulate my pineal gland.
