I would like to conduct a little study on what "the majority" and "the minority" have for statistical win rates in their trading. Please vote. Elaborate with a comment if you wish.

"Average Win/Loss ratio and Percentage Profitable - These two statistics add little value, if any, by themselves. When taken together, however, they can be very valuable. If I were to rank a statistic, this combination would probably come out on top.

...

If this combination exists, you are about as close to a Holy Grail strategy as you are going to get."

Again, this is false. As most of the garbage you post here, in a casino there is no win rate of 50%, it's lower, and it's in favor of the house.

Now please go find something else to play with, you don't know jack shit about trading or gambling.

Yes i will do, thank you for your help.

I think i play with xbox, that more easy.

Thank you again, mr. street smart.

If you dont like my posts, then dont read them.
I have read all your posts, and it seems to me you are realy
a great trader, how many millions do you have made with trading ???

I am no trader i just wanted to troll around.
Actually i am 13 years old and live with my family in colorado.
But maybe you could teach me how i could be one day a great trader, how you be....??

thank you anyway:p

If I get it, the subject of the debate is whether win rate is important. I think the answer is "it depends", an answer that applies almost to all questions about trading.

If you are a scalper then high win rate matters.

If you are a trend follower, win rate may not matter.

If you are a swing trader you should have it as high as possible.

In general, the higher the win rate, the better it is for your drawdown because the number of maximum consecutive losers is approximately equal to -4/log(1-win rate)

In addition, consistent long term trend following may require win rates > 50% to account for volatility and lack of trends during some periods. This has been argued in this blog.

"Evey trend following system must have a short-term position trading aspect to it that is balanced well for longer-term survival."

Ok so I talked about a method of mine with very low winrate that has success as a trend follower. Lets hear from some Reversion to Mean guys with those ultra high winrates .

I used to run an rtm system which had a win rate of 80-90% and av.win/av.loss of around 0.7 . It was quite good. Interestingly, the exit rules were such, that even with random entries , it gave 70-75% win rate (but lost money).

and be thankful when a true MASTER tell you some wisdom.

I bet 1M$ i am a better trader, than you will ever be.
Yeah, i would also bet 2M$, bcuz i think intolerant & ignorant
people like you, will never understand what it is all about, bcuz you have an too small horizont.

But thats not your fault.

Anyway, i wish you the best in your trading/gambling with your 1% win rate. :p HAHAHAHAHAHA:p

1%, sorry i cant stop laughing.

you are really the funniest clown i have ever met.

:p LOL.:p HAHAHAHAHA:p

What is the purpose of trading with 1% win rate? Does such a system provide better overall profit, than say 50% system? :)

Well, I just asked this stupid question being "slightly" not American. :D

Now seriously, probably there are some advantages in trading 1% winning rate system, but I really don't see any. Equity curve would look not too smooth, which I don't like.
