That's a good one. You can accuse Trump of many things, obfuscating context isn't one of them.
Funny how that works. As I recall, international inspectors were also unable to conclusively verify the absence of undeclared nuclear activities in Iraq as well. And we still, after a couple thousand years of inspecting and investigating haven't been able to verify the non-existence of God either. On a personal note, I've been trying to verify the non existence of frogs with wings for over twenty years now and still can't positively, absolutely verify they don't exist. Frustrating as hell.

I don't know how you got on this illegal abortion kick. Tell me how many there were last year in the U.S. No on second thought , don't bother. I was talking about Trump telling us we ought to punish women who had an abortion. Never any mention of illegal abortions. You brought that up, right out of your ass.
They were talking about the Supreme Court and the old Jane Doe case and a new justice. They were trying to get him to state his view on abortion. He was campaigning at the time and you are old enough to remember the linguistic evolution when a candidate was asked to make a definite statement about abortion. And Trump at the time was highly evolved and he simply stated that he would go along with whatever changes the supreme court made. Then he was asked if the Supreme Court made abortion illegal what should happen to people who violate that law? And he replied "they should be punished" as in when we have a law and you break it that should result in some kind of punishment. And those my comrade are the alternative facts that never get reported. I saw and heard the interview like every/anybody else that cared and from then on it was just spin like you are constantly regurgitating without even listening without your big anti-Trump ears on.

Matthews goads him with "...but legally I want to get to the question—" Trump either did not pick up on this, or possibly, at this point in his campaign, he did not know abortion has been litigated in the Supreme Court, so it isn't something that can just be banned by passing a statute, not easily anyway.
Later, as so often happens after one of Trumps incredibly stupid remarks, his position was "walked back" with a release of a modified statement in which the, 'if abortion is made illegal,' language appears. Since then the media that Trump so reviles has actually helped rescue his ass by quoting his "walked back" statement rather than the original!

Now you are just discussing seriously what to us is how silly Trump looked when he was in his clown costume in the dunking tank waiting for MSN to hit the target and dunk him in the tank again. Glad you are enjoying your Saturday morning entertainment. Sorry, I'm still picking up from last night, I thought you were discussing something serious. And it doesn't stop there. First they created the stereotype, and then they take any and everything he says or tweets and cram it into the stereotype. I mean it's not like he is a muslim born in Kenya with a middle name the same as a bad guy or anything. Or a communist who tells a business owner that he didn't build his business the government did. Because if it was anything like that you would have plenty of company to share your thought process with, because it is not interesting anymore to me. (see, it's not mixed up English, it means if it is interesting to me it is not interesting to most others.)

There’s no question Obama inartfully phrased those two sentences, but it’s clear from the context what the president was talking about. He spoke of government — including government-funded education, infrastructure and research — assisting businesses to make what he called “this unbelievable American system that we have.”
Today, in this fucked up society we live in, where any one, including myself, with the push of a few key strokes, can dump anything on the net where a billion people can read it, everything has to be questioned if there is the slightest indication that it is not a reasonable thing for someone to say. For example, I personally heard Trump make that remark about punishing women that had an abortion without being in the context of illegal abortions. I heard it broadcast live. And though it is an incredibly stupid remark; and not a reasonable thing for a person to say, and one can't imagine that any educated person would make such a remark without qualifying it in some way, the man actually said it. You would want to assume that he did not really mean what he said. But unfortunately for all of us, he has proven many times over to be an ignoramus. So how are we to give him credit for not meaning what he actually said?
On the other hand, Obama is nothing if not well educated and smart. He is careful regarding his remarks, though of course, like all of us, he is fallible. I listened to him make the remarks in question, it was perhaps on C-Span. I did not think anything of it at the time because hearing the remarks in context they make complete sense. When his words were later partially quoted out of context they no longer made sense. You should have questioned right away their validity. Why would any sane person, especially a politician, tell business owners in general you didn't build your business? Anyone hearing the out of context. partial quotation, should have immediately been suspicious that someone may be trying to mislead them. Question it. Question everything like that. Even question the stream of stupid remarks coming from Trump. Could he possibly have actually said that? Did he actually say he was going to build a Wall along the Southern U.S. Border and get Mexico to pay for it?

what'd I say? I heard Obama say it like everybody else and then it was taken way out of context and you are doing the same thing with Trump. In Trumps case you get hung up with literal words when his supporters hear intent. And most of it is this is bad somebody ought to do something about it. That's all.
