New Yorkers unwilling to forgive Trump for mixing up 9/11 and 7-Eleven: ‘That’s just the way he is, ignorant’

Fellow shopper Victor Destacio, 40, of Woodside, Queens, was stunned to hear any presidential candidate — much less one born and raised in the city — mixed up the Al Qaeda attack with the open-all-night convenience store.
“That’s not acceptable, to make that kind of mistake,” Destacio said Tuesday. “You’re running for president, and you don’t know the difference between 9/11 and 7-Eleven? 9/11 is nothing to joke around with.”
Trump, speaking Monday at a Buffalo campaign rally, was linking himself with the events of Sept. 11, 2001, when he inexplicably mentioned the national chain.
“I watched our police and firemen at 7-Eleven, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action,” Trump announced.
Many New York City residents were unwilling to give the benefit of the doubt to Trump over the gaffe.
