Controlling the lives of others, i.e. what a woman can do with her body, what people can marry each other, what consenting adults can do for recreation with drugs...is what the republicans want to do...they want others to conform to their values.

Quote from wjk:

Really? Deregulation would be lack of control. But in the sense of individual conservatives and libertarians wanting to control their own lives, you're absolutely correct!

I actually agree with some of your points. I don't agree with your first one if you’re referring to abortion, but if someone wants to be gay or smoke dope, that should be their business, providing they harm no one but themselves in the progress. We already know how the republicans screwed themselves in so many ways.

Having said that, I believe the left wing has a much greater desire to control individual lives, and to a far greater extent. I still consider the republicans the lesser of two evils. I would like to see a viable libertarian candidate, but I’m not holding my breath. I'm in favor of small government with reasonable regulation on those that need it (certain businesses and Wall Street).

The far left maybe, but not the average liberal.

They want to live and let live, and yes they do believe we have a shared responsibility to the less fortunate and those of minority status.

The only problem is that the definition of the less fortunate use to be providing food, clothing and shelter.

Now it has been distorted into massive amounts of other entitlements that ruin incentives for self improvement and puts chains around the tax payers who do all the work.

Social Security- $586.1 billion.
Medicare- $394.5 billion.
Welfare/Unemployment- $294 Billion.
Medicaid- $276.4 billion.
Reckless Foreign Policy- $144 Billion.

Let the federal government provide Food, Clothing and Shelter. Let them also provide defense and security.

Let the states decide on education and the rest of the spending issues.

The American Dream is not the amount of material possesions that we aquire. It is the freedom to succeed or fail, prosper or perish, enjoy feasts or suffer famines as a direct result of our own efforts.

Imagine how much more productive our country would be if suddenly both parties told the American people that they were drastically slashing entitlements to just food, clothing, shelter and defense? Just Imagine!

Individual liberty and direct control of ones life.

Small government guys. Power to the states.

1. Average liberals do not run for public office.

2. I don't answer personal questions about my ethnicity, fortunes, etc.

3. I don't answer those types of questions. If you want the truth of what goes on at ET (which I doubt you actually do) ask the attorney general of ET who knows the political actions of ET members and the way in which management deals with them.

Quote from Mag Light:

1. do you consider obongo, reid, and paloski average liberals?

2. are you one of the less fortunate and or minorities?

3. were you banned for defending pedophiles?

Quote from Thunderdog:

As of this writing, 23 self-confessed Stormfront troopers, and counting...

Did you include yourself in the total. You are one of the most hateful posters on ET.
