i know several people who use the va even though they could afford insurance. they both say the get great care and seldom wait. next argument.
No, most would not agree. The V.A. has attended to my health care needs for many years and mostly done a splendid job. Same for the many veterans that I know. This is not to say anything about Obama's proposed health care, as I have no idea how that would work out in practice after what I'm sure would be a very bumpy start. But I'm sorry your experience with the V.A. has been negative. Then again, I know many folks who have had horrible experiences with private insurance companies overseeing their private health care. I'm not sure which is worse, the government between me and my doctor or an insurance company bean-counter making the decisions for me and my doctor. Anyway, my experience with the various V.A. hospitals that I've gone to has been very good -- extremely inexpensive prescriptions, moderate waits for appointments, dedicated doctors and nurses (and volunteers), and the latest medical equipment. And, no, I'm not related to any member of Congress although I understand they also receive superb gov't health care.Quote from skylr33:
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also know several people that use the VA. And guess what??? I also use it, and it's absolutely horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! Most will agree that the care received by the Veteran's Administration is about as bad as it get's. You want to talk about the VA providing quality health care? LOL!!!!! The people you know that think they provide good care must be related to members of congress. LOL!!!!!
