They should keep the name. The controversy surrounding their name is nothing more than a strong-arm tactic cooked up by liberals to make something out of nothing. Not once did you hear any actual Native Americans complain about it.

NBC Sports: Six Protesters Prove Redskins Controversy 'Not Going Away

"Anyone who thought this was an offseason story that would go away once the season started was incorrect. This [Redskins name] controversy is not going away," concluded NBCSports.com writer Michael David Smith in a story filed this afternoon about a handful of protesters in Houston complaining about the visiting Washington NFL team's mascot and logo.

Of course at no point in his brief story did Smith give readers an idea of how many folks were protesting, but a link in his story took readers to a tweet by a Houston-based reporter depicted a grand total of six protesters outside of NRG Stadium in Houston [see embedded tweet below].

By contrast, a short Associated Press story this afternoon made clear the demonstration was a "small group" and that even some Houston Texans fans had little patience for the politically-correct diatribe against their visiting opponents:

A few Washington fans, including one wearing a jersey bearing the Redskin logo stopped to chat with the protesters and hear their views on the name. But a few Texans fans heckled the protesters as they walked into the stadium.

According to the link, the original poster is correct. It has this quote in it:

“The mail I’ve received is the other way,” he said. “We’ve been urged by more Indians to keep the name than to do away with it. If the people of Washington want the name changed, it will be changed. But so far our polls have not shown this to be the case.”
