Political Scientist: Republicans Most Conservative They've Been In 100 Years

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

Democrats however have gotten vastly more liberal. They have also purged their moderates.
man you live in alternate reality. you must never listen to anything other than fox news.

name the moderate republicans who have not been purged or who are not in a fight for their lives.

Quote from RCG Trader:

But he is a liberal today. Do you deny this AAA?

Yes, of course I deny it. Was he in favor of gay marriage, affirmative action, high taxes, abortion on demand, activist federal judges attacking religion, environmentalist extremism, etc etc?

People want to say he would be liberal because he agreed to a couple of tax increases in a compromise with democrats who promised big spending cuts. Of course, those cuts never happened and Reagan considered it his biggest mistake.

+1

Reagan a liberal? Nothing but liberals trying to revise history to suite their agenda.

You cant make up stuff like that and that article and chart confirms the slow and painful death of the Republican party.
They are truly the dead weight thats pulling back the prosperity of the USA.

Well, by its very definition, the Right Wing is all about hierarchy. And we have no lack of soon-to-haves right here, defending their soon-to-be fortunes.

Did you get this non sense out of your "liberal talking points for dummies" manual?

The Republicans look further right to liberal academics because the left keeps moving further left.

Susan B. Anthony, a first wave feminist, was against abortion. Who knew then that making killing fetuses legal would become a litmus test for being on the left?

Just 30 years ago, who imagined that every right thinking liberal would have to favor homosexual marriage?

In 1970, did you have to be in favor of illegal immigration to be a Democrat in good standing?

I guarantee that in 20 years those still holding out against legal polygamy will be regarded as extremist reactionaries.

Know your history:

In politics, the Right, right-wing and rightist has been defined as the support or acceptance of social hierarchy.[1][2][3] Inequality is viewed by the Right as either inevitable, natural, normal, or desirable,[1] whether it arises through traditional social differences[4] or from competition in market economies.[5][6]

The political terms Right and Left were coined during the French Revolution, and were a reference to where people sat in the French parliament. Those who sat to the right of the president's chair were broadly supportive of the institutions of Ancien Régime[7][8][9][10] The original right in France was composed of those supporting hierarchy, tradition, and clericalism.[11] The Right invoked natural law and divine law to explain the normality of social inequalities.[1]
