Police shoot a guys dog for filming them

Quote from CoolTraderDude:

...LOL... The dog's a killing machine now...?

I watched that video and both the arrest and shooting of the dog were unjustified... Those cops overreacted to the situation.

I've never owned a dog myself but I've had two buddies who owned dogs... One had a pitbull and the other had a rotweiller... The rotweiller never gave any trouble and was always well behaved and calm...

The pitbull on the other hand was nuts... It tried to bite me a bunch of times for no reason... and would grab on to my jacket to spin me around... One time it went nuts on my friend and tried to really bite him... My buddy had to beat it into submission with a book... Now... he loved that dog and never abused it (well besides when it tried to bite)... But the pitbull was nuts and prone to wild moodswings... Regardless of that he kept that dog and took good care of it.

The point that I'm trying to make is that a grown man over 18 should be able to deal with large aggressive dogs like we did without shooting them.

When they leap at you just raise your knee and knee it...

That dog was everything but a true "killing machine," I agree. These Gestapo (out of control), cops did wrong, and threw all restraint, and common sense out the window. They should be in jail, as they're no better than the trash they lock up. Worst case, IMO, is the dog should have been tazed. I would have given him a headache with an ASP baton, but couldn't fathom shooting him. Inner city cops are becoming more Gestapo/out of control more and more these days due to America's morality problems... Isn't it amazing to read liberal excuses from people who usually hate cops? That is until, common sense people speak out against the cops/government... At that point, the mental case liberals show up, and defend the very cops they truly hate to further their sick agendas...

TL,

I believe that you are a kind hearted individual, and so for you it is easy to see the dog as a sweet puppy and only being playful and a bit nervous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not see sweet puppy and playful. I see the dog is not knowing what is happened.

QUOTE]Quote from Hoofhearted:
But you must understand that this dog was a full grown killing machine. Even if dog no want to kill, it still capable of killing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think all dogs can kill. All people can kill too. But this dog is in the car to watching his owner first.. The dog (do not) jump out to attack. He watch and he bark. So why does this dog not attack then? Hmm? He is watching and he is not sure what is happened. Then his owner is going away from the sidewalk. The police pull Rosby the man away from the sidewalk. Why do the police not tell Rosby to put up the window in the car then? Then the dog bark and jump out to follow.

QUOTE]Quote from Hoofhearted:
Now watch video again and please watch Rosby.

Rosby put large killing type dog in car with no windows.

Large killing type dog bark threatening. Bark say "Hey you! I'm gonna eat your face!!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No. The bark is not say "Hey you! I'm gonna eat your face!!" Why do the police not hear that bark and put up the window first when they handcuff Rosby?? The police is not hearing that bark to be violent. The dog bark is talking to his owner when he see him on the sidewalk with the police. He bark to call his owner.

Quote from Hoofhearted:
Dog charges group of men and starts acting excited.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No, the dog is not "charges group of men and starts acting excited" The dog go to his owner first.

Quote from Hoofhearted:

Rosby tries to kick his dog and yells "Get Down!!"

Dog has no idea what it is supposed to do because dog have no training.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dog get down when Rosby tell him that.

Quote from LEAPup:

1. The dog was outside of his home, which anyone who has dogs knows when they "go for a ride," they get happy/riled up.

2. At the very worst, the dog could have been smacked over the head with an ASP baton which most police officers carry. A tazer would have also worked, but I found that two smacks over the head with a 26" ASP stops the biting. The dog may have a nice headache after that, but lives. The tazer? That's after my time. I understand they work well on biting dogs, however.

3. Today's inner city police at times, display Gestapo tactics with their 5-12 car backup. What they did was way over the line, and sadly, this will happen more as America gives up even more freedom for free ice cream, and socialism.

These pirates in blue should be in jail.

I agree with every thing said here except for the last line which may or may not be true.

The only thing I'm seeing left out of the entire equation was Rosb'y irresponsible, negligent, and obtrusive behavior during the moments armed officers were involved in a potentially lethal situation.

I thought you of all people should understand that.

I'll repeat myself because I think its a worthwhile cause.

1. Rosby showed no concern for the dog's well being.

2. The police are in a heightened state, as should anyone be who is performing these types of maneuvers.

3. For those of you who think the officers should have rushed to Rosby, quickly shook his hand and introduced themselves before asking him in a polite manner to safely lock his dog up, and turn down his radio, are just ignorant to the reality of the situation.

4. A dog of that size, stature and misdemeanor can take a chunk out of you before know what's missing.

5. I don't care how badass you claim to be with a ASP baton, or a tazer. For you to use either of those weapon's effectively means you would have had to holster your firearm.

6. If you chose not to holster your firearm, and decided to still grab your baton or tazer, you may have been giving up your best defense in the situation which is a hand to grab with.

7. Holding your firearm in one hand and welding a baton in the other would have rendered you much less effective with your firearm, which was the appropriate weapon to engage in armed raid activities.

8. The officers should not have had to holster their firearms in the moments during or following an armed raid.
That may have put them at substantial risk.

9. Rosby should be in jail, just like Michael Vick.

Quote from AK Forty Seven:

After re watching the video and reading the polices side of the story the guy seems to be wrong.Others are filming and the police didn't bother them. Why didn't he turn his music down when he put the dog in car ?By going to the car and not turning the music down he is telling police he isn't going to comply,if he had turned it down they might not have arrested him.Neighbors said he was belligerent with police when they asked him to turn the radio down and they asked him to turn it down for good reason. While I usually hate local cops and defend minorities in cases of racist behavior I cant defend this guy,he seemed to be looking for trouble with the police and found it.
=====================
Good points Ak-47;
;especially since, that is a dangerous breed of dog + that man was was warned- turn radio down [lawful order] ''robbery in progress''

I though[at first ] this was about the FOX news story on the pit bull in Ausitin TX,Pet Co. Gunned that dog down rightly so, in Petco, for attacking a smaller dog.Female police cleared area, made 2 good shots in to pit bull; again the pattern of a dead dog/good shooting by police.. ==============================

Here is an official report in which Leon Rosby, the dog's owner, recaps the incident from his point of view.

His crying doesn't convince me he had any concern for his dog.

He's obviously never had any background experience with dogs because he tells us "I'm 52 years old and never thought I'd get attached to no dog like dat, man."

Which means he probably obtained the dog for protection services, but was clearly unable to provide any kind of training for "Max".

Perhaps he initially only wanted the dog to protect his drugs from his friends and neighbors- we simply don't know why he owned it, but it sounds like at some point he became affectionate for the animal.

Watch how several adults struggle to take control of this retarded owner's retarded dog.

The kid in the video was lucky in that it looks like the dog only had hold of clothing, but note the amount of time it takes for someone to punch at it's face hard enough to break a hand before the dog releases.

Most people are just clueless how quickly a limb can be lost in these situations.

The dog actually looked like it was just playing rough, and not even close to shaking and pulling at full strength capacity.

You're scared to death of large dogs to the point of pissing your panties at the sight of one, we get it already.

Well, here's a grown ass man who looked like he could handle himself, in the beginning, but was evidently unaware that his own pitbull didn't give a shit whether or not he was over 18.

Once a switch is flipped in these animals, it often takes death to turn that switch off.

Notice how the pitbull actually releases the man for a moment and looks as if it will hold off further attack. It is merely waiting for a better opportunity to seize the man's throat which it succeeds in doing.

Also notice how the pedestrian trying to help the man beats the pitbull repeatedly over the back and head with a steel rod to no avail.
