Poker and the Beginning Trader

After trying out various different tactics, I now play almost exclusively at the Party 200+15 NL and 100+9 NL single table tourneys. For me, NL does not get all monotonous & boring like limit poker...not yet at least.

Anyways, my user ID on there is Frozen_Fish . Daytrading used to be the absolute center of my life. Now I just can't seem to get re-interested in the market. All the dumb money has swam over to the poker tables, or so it seems...

i agree, thats why i have spent more time playing poker than cards... like daytrading in 99', for those of us playing the game for a long time anyway!

Don't know about you guys, but I am finding more tough games on Party lately.

I think the shark/fish ratio is getting less favorable quicker than we think.

some days I can find a good loose game, but very agressive. Then I find a tight game, but aggressive. Having trouble finding the nice loose passive games that were plentiful a couple of months ago.

I play party 2/4 and occasionally 3/6.

I will say one thing though.. poker has definitely helped with my mental processes as far as trading goes.

I am finding more rocks on there, not necessarily tough though. You have to get the table going. Raise more than you usually would and see how mad you can get people. Increases bankroll variances, but also your bottom line in my experience. Drop in stakes if you don't feel comfortable getting crazy at 3/6 or whatever. Make them think you are crazy, but only raise with playable hands. In stud/8 especially, I will raise a good hand no matter how many times it has been raised already. You'd be suprised how quick people open up when you raise everytime you decide to play a hand. I had the average pot on a 3/6 stud/8 table up to $100+ the other day doing this, and within 2 hours was up a couple hundred bucks. It is lots of fun too!
