Point and Click Vs. Hot Keys

Quote from Redneck trader:

Epiphany,

Not meaning to change your direction….

But I have been looking for a remote function key pad – which I could connect into a USB port – for some time

(F1 – F12 would be more than sufficient)

If anyone reading this knows where I can get a couple please let me know

I am looking for just the functions keys...., not the keyboard nor number keys

Thank you
RN

RN you could get the Nostromo speedpad as someone mentioned.

or for a numeric keypad what I use in conjunction is Hotkeymaster

http://www.hotkeymaster.com/

it is for windows XP but a super and reliable little program. So you can map your F keys the way you like

PM me for a key

However, I haven't yet found a good way to use the keyboard across multiple instruments/windows, since you need have the window/DOM ladder selected for it to work properly. If you just want to use it with one instrument, it works fine.

Best trading,

Jorge

Some platforms allow you to set a key (such as tab) to cycle between level II/market maker/order entry boxes. In Laser I use 4 boxes and pressing tab always selects the box to the left, so no stock is more than 3 key clicks away.

Scalper, thank you for the hint. Problem is in NinjaTrader every single window (order entry, charts, quotes, etc.) counts when you click through, so you could easily have to click through 20 windows. Thanks anyway.

If anyone uses hotkeys with IB or with NinjaTrader 7 Beta, I would love to hear from them.

Best trading,

Jorge
