Please help me, option market making risk return, thanks

Pretty much every firm does some level of college recruit/internships if they are a scale firm. I very much doubt your first job - for any of us - was our lifetime wish job. A fair amount of opportunity was created by Global Trading Hours. In the old days, you clerked or ran and the going rate was $600 to $800 a month. No more clerks/runners, today your still some sort go -for and pretty much the going rate at most shops is $15 to $20 depending on which trading session.

I would never want to dampen someone's enthusiasm. But I cannot think of a more saturated trading space than options market making. I have a very good friend who is a Principal at a long time Chicago OMM proprietary firm - and it is very tough. You run your model on Orc and carry a book. The problem is that there is tremendous competition to pick up a couple pennies. Used to be quarters, then dimes, then nickels...

Making markets in Over The Counter products can be good - but that is an adult swim in the deep end of the pool.

I would recommend that you interview for analyst positions. Hopefully you have a Hard Sciences / Math background ? :caution:
I think the film' Floored' is worth a look

I'll try what they recommend - reaching out to a HR coordinator, but DRW isn't a primary OMM firm so I don't know if they have OMM software. We can always use third party software but I'd be facing the same issues as I am today although at least hopefully I get to manage the sheets the way I want to.

I'm seeing credibility is a big issue here so I'll have to think of ways to answer that during my pitch. Thanks.

We? WTF is we? DRW doesn’t have OMM software?!

With all due respect; you’re delusional. You have little knowledge and zero experience. You don’t code. You have zero to offer a OMM firm. You think these guys are going to give you a desk and have you run ORC and allow you to “manage your sheets” the way you like?

lol are you at Rutgers?

What's ORC, the trading platform?

All I'm looking for here is pitch advice, and the last thing missing really is the risk return profile of market making. Basically how much capital would I need - I can't answer that.

I will talk to you guys when I get a job if this thread is no longer constructive.

I don’t get what you’re asking... how much capital you need? As if you’re going to operate independently.
