This is why you cannot think of yourself as viable business a real time day trader when every 2 or 3 years your platform would freeze and you are liable to lose huge chunk of money. This is happening more than it should. A casino gambler don't have this much risk to carry if he/she is smart.

You don't mention your data provider. I use Ninja/Zen and it did not appear to miss a beat. Also location, I am on the East Coast.

Today was the first time I ever had Ninjatrader/Mirus freeze up.
Good reason I guess.
Anyone else?

I got f'd on this exact same thing...Ninjatrader w/ Zenfire/ Mirus. I have actually experienced quite a few data feed disconnects, freeze ups, and latency issues this week.
What is your best back up plan if you had a position or working orders when this happens? Also, how do you put in a manual stop? I don't pay for the monthly ATM fee (use the free version).
I just opened this account which is why I don't have my own answers for these situations quite yet.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the free version, but I assumed you could just hit the close button, or buy if you're short, sell if long etc.
I have a second account {Infinity} on a separate computer with it's own Internet feed just in case they don't answer the phone quick enough, as everyone else will be calling them. I'll just go long on the second account if I'm frozen/locked out on a short on my regular trading machine. I've done this a few times with success a few years back when the YM/CBOT would go down frequently. I'd take a position in the ES/CME for the opposite direction.
