Chris.... this is really great info.... thanks so much.... I have been thinking about building one myself.... the only thing different is that I have 6-24inch monitors that may require additional/upgraded hardware.

thanks again (too bad you don't live in danville, ca ) :)

You would need a better motherboard and more than one graphics card probably but there is a MicroCenter store that has really great deals but only if you buy at the store itself.

I think there is a MicroCenter in Danville. Also, I think MC has a section dedicated to helping builders.

It s not a big deal. The easiest approach is to get a motherboard that offers 3 PCIeX16 slots, and get 3 small, inexpensive (that they don't draw a lot of power) dual graphics cards. (I use EVGA 8400 GS cards.)

Remember, if you choose to use Nvidia's free software application "NView" to stretch your applications across all of your monitors, "NView" is no longer supported by GeForce graphics based cards anymore.

I believe that "NView" will still work with XP and a GeForce card, but this handy little desktop application is now exclusively supporting NVS-Quadro based cards ONLY, ie. NVS-295, NVS-300 for all WINDOWS 7 OS.
