Pictures of your trading stations

Quote from Raystonn:

Why bother staring at a few small rectangular screens? Skip straight to a panoramic head-mounted display. You want another monitor displaying information? Just add a virtual monitor to your right, turn your head, and there it is. This system is considered better than the CAVE virtual reality room systems. It's a tad costly though, so it's only for the profitable among us.

Any idea what the price tag for this HMD is?

The only price I have seen so far is US$200,000. Since the components do not cost that much to manufacture, that should eventually come down. If you contact them directly perhaps they will entertain a lower bid. If you are interested in the technology behind it, they use 12 of these micro displays per eye: http://www.emagin.com/products/index.php

Besides making it difficult to trade and:

Eat lunch;

Find the phone to answer;

Write something down;

Read printed matter;

etc.,etc.

Here's another problem:

"The piSight 150 requires 24 SVGA (800x600) inputs for full operation. These can be generated from a full spectrum of image generator configurations such as:

Two computers with 12 SVGA outputs each. Such configuration, for example, could equip each computer with a quad-output video board and 3:1 analog video splitters

Six computers with four SVGA outputs each

Twelve computers each with dual-output VGA

Commercial image generator arrays"

Just grab yourself a commercial image generator array or a rack system and put it in an IT closet.

I would say eliminating the stack of monitors would actually make it easier to eat lunch. You have more desk space. The HMD certainly does not block your mouth. The aspect I enjoy is that you get a single cable up to 100 feet long from the HMD to your IT closet.

ElectricSavant, can you please modify my previous post so the image appears in-line rather than showing the URL as a link?

I believe we must use actual HTML rather than the img tags, so you would do something like this:

Thanks,

And how do I know if I'm sticking the fork into a chunk beef or a cigar butt?
