I had an idea of displaying information in the way that it is presented on your screens as an upper echelon matrix.

I am curious if you would not mind explaining what the information on those screens is?

It's not so much the the cooling and expanding. It is like your car's engine, the most stress put on your car is when it is "cold" and has to be started because it is cold and most of the lubricating fluids are not flowing freely in the engine block. Once it is going and warm, there is almost no wear and tear on the engine. Engine block heaters help alot.

I keep all my computers on too all of the time, but if I could turn them off I would because they draw power and that means more polluting :(

My Dells have been running 24/7 for years - only time they go off is for upgrades.

There is a school of thought amongst IT guys that switching PC's on and off is bad for them anyway and can cause reliability problems through component stress with all the bits getting hot and then cooling off, expanding and contracting day in day out.

Top two screens are Reuters and email, internet/streaming tv, cnbc on seperate PC's etc.

Bottom four are main trading pc, from left to right its basically the calendar spread matrixes showing all the bids and offers for all the different intra-market spreads along the yield curve on LIFFE Short Sterling, Euribor and CME Eurodollar interest rates. I was messing around looking at the spread markets for ES and NQ that day too, which is what the two small windows on the right were showing.

I dont look at or need charts.

Nice set up with those screens coming over the top. What kind of arb are you set up for?

Just looking for single ticks through the implieds - either from trading spreads against spreads, or working legs on the outrights against the spreads
