Quote from NetTecture:I just wish AMD would not be so damn far behind the curve. They are slower per frequency per core (this is called IPC - instructions per core). They have way fewer cores.

You know the answer to this... Intel stole/robbed all the talent and Intellectual Property from AMD many years ago. This set them up at a disadvantage and it is still haunting AMD. The minor fines that Intel had to pay were nothing compared to the profits they see today :p

Regarding Andiroo / NetTecture discussion..

Andiroo - I do not want to mock anyone elses Workstation, but to call it awesome I have to agree with NetTecture its a stretch.

I guess you run this one http://cpuboss.com/cpu/Intel-Xeon-W3520 ?
If so, I run a low-end Xeon today (1 year old) that retails lower and perform about the double of that 4 year old design.

Again, not to bash Your setup, the most important thing is that you are satisfied - and 400 for complete box sounds ok, just trying to put it into perspective..

Happy trading :)

Well, I'm not trading yet but I just finished setting up a triple tall monitor setup. We'll see how it works out. Monitors were 130 each aside from the big monitors in the middle, and stands were 85 each, so fairly cheap to do this now. Graphics cards to run it weren't bad at all either, less than 200 for the second graphics card and three $62 usb 3.0 display adapters to run all the rest of the monitors.

What are you trading that you need all those

I probably don't need them, but it's nice to have a lot of displays. I may rearrange them to two high, as the top monitor is a little hard to see, and expand sideways. I'll have to add another desk if I do that though.

He's trading a bitchin' tan for a chance at skin cancer.

That is a tanning bed we're looking at, right?

I was worried about that too, but it seems like they don't generate much heat as they are all LED displays. :)

Little easier to see, just learned how to integrate images into a post after attaching it. I'd have integrated the first image I posted if it wasn't so big.
