Pickleball craze

There is also padel.

"Invented in Acapulco in 1969 by the Mexican industrialist Enrique Corcuera, padel (technically pronounced with a Spanish inflection, “PAH-del”; many Americans simply say “paddle”) is a game of doubles, played with a low-pressure tennis ball, a paddle, and a glass back wall and corners on a shrunken tennis court."

I learned something. I thought paddle and platform tennis were the same thing.

platform tennis being the second waspiest sport after fox hunting.

People stand in line at the courts waiting for their turn. It’s usually the first thing i hear in the morning when i wake up. Was at golf galaxy yesterday….isles and shelves were full of boxes of pickleball paddles and balls. Unfortunately probably from inflation, costs of running fitness centers rose 8.2%. Time will tell i guess.

Pickleball can be loud...like people beating wooden baseball bats against telephone poles. I think that's been the only rub with the sport so far. All the tennis people I know like it because you can hold a beer in your other hand while playing.

Don't let him! It is fucking noisy. Our tennis/pickle court is about 200 yards from our house, with houses in between and I can still hear the noise and the yelling, when I am sitting on the porch.

And there will be yelling, mark my word...

I like to play it, but I don't want to listen to it.
Especially if you have a lot of water/river/lake in your surroundings, watch out

It's the truth. My next-door neighbor just reached out the other day wanting to know if I would be ok with him putting a pickleball court in his backyard. :D
Tell him to build an indoor court with acoustic insulating walls and roof.

My colleague Joe who played both and also traded different instruments shared the following:

Pickleball is a lot of fun, but have you played paddleball!?

I was introduced to both sports this year and I must say it is not even close. Playing pickle ball is fun, however playing paddleball is amazing! Its like trading futures vs stocks, once you go to futures there is no going back.

Look it up, find a court and let me know!
