Photo ID required by brokers?

I was asked by one of my brokers to provide a photo ID, citing the "Patriotic Homeland Security Act". Anybody have a similar experience?

Part of the requirements of the PATRIOT anti-terrorism law is for brokers to "know their customer", which means that they can require reasonable identification.
