Peter Thiel Gives 20 Teenagers $100K Each to Skip College

Quote from achilles28:

So we're decided that Peter Thiel, a guy who's net worth is more than the combined nw of every member in this thread, is an idiot.... Well done.

Peter Thiel is a smart guy. He got his JD from Stanford Law School.

This is a moot point. Paris Hilton probably has a higher net worth than 10,000 Grigori Perelmans.

So we've decided that...

...irony is, when you are complaining about something although you are making the exact same logical fallacy....

By the way nobody made the point you stated.

Lets beat the damn dead horse til it become a minced meat.

According to that article, guys like me, the illogical types, are outsourcing auditing and accounting work to India for 23k annually whereas in the US the same rout work would cost us 70k plus--- no wonder you say my posts are irrational and illogical--- I don't blame you.

The anti college people make four arguments:

1. Everyone goes to crazy expensive third tier private colleges without scholarships.
2. The five billionaires who didn't go to college prove its a waste of time.
3. They cite the example of a frat boy who wasted his four years drinking as the college experience for everyone.
4. Everyone studies Mesopotamian pottery and thus can't find a job.

Nope, read the business week article. It's now becoming fact. Surf

"The unemployment rate for college graduates in April was just 3.9 percent, vs. 11.6 percent for people with less than a high school education. "

Education still matters, but we also need to supplement it will more skills that are and will be needed in the coming years/decades.

The education equals better job argument is quickly fading into myth status

This is symptomatic of arguments in general- it is far easier and concise to prove a point with dramatic anecdotes (which is also what you have done here) than to attempt to address the many nuances of what are typically complicated situations.
