Basic needs according to whom? An angry, failed "trader" who can't provide for himself? Where in the Constitution are you promised all that free stuff?

Take it easy, you don't know what I can provide. I wasn't talking about free stuff, but in order to make those corporations to understand you have to break something. Otherwise they will continue doing the same again and again.

Let it be discharged with bankruptcy and make the universities on the hook for the bankruptcies. While I am philosophically opposed to loan forgiveness, it is unconscionable to begin drowning a 17 year old in a lifetime of debt after lying to him for 17 years that the only way to happiness or success of any kind requires a university degree. Hold the universities a little more responsible for their criminal pricing.
 
Defaults happen all the time and at all levels. Specially at higher levels where countries are involved.

It is normal that after setting every single student in debt for years someone would react to it. You should be proud that this reform is coming from a politician, because looking at the current state of American politics, they are constantly looking to benefit the rich against their own people.

This change has been proposed because there is a risk of a revolt. And that revolt is silently happening when people quit their jobs and debts. When you pressure the mass too much they don't react well. It could be worse, people could organize themselves and set everything in flames like it has happened in many countries before.
 
Student loan forgiveness, 300 billion dollars to people that make up to 120k. It's a stimulus check for people that would have voted democrat anyway.
Fed will have to print money for this, in a recession taxes collected are much less.
Oil prices need to collapse, it's the only way out of stagflation.
