Personal Journey - The Goal is Survival

Quote from anglagard:

Taking a long trade in ES, simulator of course.

Buying 2 positions at 1247 with a stop at 1235 and a first target of 1262.

Getting old, those urges to piss while I sleep are not cool :p

As soon as 1260 is touched I will adjust the stop to entry + 1 tick.

Sim Trade did not work, got stopped at 35.

This is good news, no beginner's luck! hah :p

Still studying and integrating NT with IB, so much to configure and learn.

I had expressed interest in buying AT&T long term but smallish as a way to get my feet wet with investments provinding high yields.

Bought that position today in cash, what an excitement :)

Have not completed the NT/IB integration yet so presenting the IB timestamp of the purchase.

Behold the humongous sizing my friends!

Back to studying.

Congrats on pulling the trigger in cash today Joe, a very big first step.

Proper sizing too considering everything, remember to treat investments differently than trading.

I'm also a supporter of fixed income instruments. Other suggestions to consider for proper diversification:

MO, PG, DUK, INTC, XOM, JNJ, GE, and many others.

Smaller size, bigger stops, in my VERY humble opinion, dollar cost averaging in solid long term investments is very much acceptable but not in trading.

A pleasure to read your journal, can't wait to see what the future holds for you.

As per my investment plan to improve long term capital investments using high yields, bought a monstrous :p position today in MO.

Waited for the close to do it as I was witnessing an extreme sell off, did not want to get in the way of such momentum.

The experts say buy low sell high, for long term holds, I definitely agree. Hold time > 1 year.
