I myself had preferred a non intervention approach myself in 2008. Even during covid. I just tried to explain that people were and still are so ill equipped for such crises that a lot of suffering would ensue as result of a total breakdown of the system. Yes, it would have done us all good in the long term but politicians plan and look ahead to the next election cycle not long term. This might be the only benefit of the Chinese system that I could possibly come up with.

I still don't get it. Crypto is some made up shit without any place in reality. It's like money in a video game like GTA5 lol. Nothing backing it, uninsured, not regulated. It's like people made up funny money and called it real.
Imagine trying to explain it to grandparents. They'd shake their heads and say what happened to common sense. Just because somebody made this stuff up, like money in some big online video game, doesn't mean it has genuine value. It's cultish. I'm a 164 iq somewhat smart person but frankly I don't get crypto. Good luck with it though.
Have you seen what is happening there right now? Dialy Covid tests that you have to pay for. Total control via an app that you need to display where ever you go. If they don't like you, they basically eliminate you from society because your status shows red and you can't do anything or go anywhere. Its mass surveillance and total control of everyone. China is imploding.
That's the cost to pay for an orderly society that is streamlined and moves ahead at light speed. You must give up certain personal freedoms. By the way, don't speak against government, don't commit crimes, don't skirt the laws and you have almost the same freedoms in China as elsewhere. Hundreds of millions that were lifted out of poverty can attest to that. I feel blessed that I live in a country where there are personal freedoms but fuck, society is messed up and we move as slow ahead as the dumbest person on the train.

I kind of agree. Cryptocurrencies were lucky to appear in the phase of QE and cheap money worldwide. When growth happens almost everywhere(at the expense of some nations and the lower social classes ) and at the expense of our common future, any crazy idea has a merit. At least that's how I see it now, having lived through it and through the last 2-3 years. Now that growth is not the default mode of the world, survival becomes number one priority for people and classes that have forgotten to think about it on this level. And survival wants no aesthetics such as cryptocurrencies, only necessities such as food and shelter. And doesn't need to be in apocalyptic terms of thinking, just every person that is not financially free starts thinking about his own physical survival, his family's survival and well-being, if they are going to have a job tomorrow to pay the bills. The average Joe won't be searching for investment vehicles based on vague concepts to throw his hard-earned money at. BItcoin is a growth thing, not a recession thing. Another aspect of it is all the young people that burned themselves by losing a year or two worth of savings in speculation. Not everyone has the entrepreneur kind of mindset, most people would not want to hear about trading and investing again in their lives. And those kinds of phenomena will bring some of the next great bull markets - when the world is ready to grow again, but most people don't have the nerve to participate in that growth. : )For the worse!

Read the thread, most technology people hate it and the masses are smartening up too. The show is over, the cat is out of the bag. It was a nice ride while it lasted...
